1. Entry to be open only to fully paid up members.
2. Entry list to be closed 7 days before the competition.
(late entries and entries on the day will be accepted if
the number of competetors is below the minimum required.)
3. One lay judge, two magical judges and a time keeper to be appointed.
4. Chairman of judges to be nominated.
5. All competitors to be judged under 4 headings
A) Technique/Handling/General Conjuring ability
B) Presentation
C)Personality/Appearance
D) Entertainment
A maximum of 10 marks to be awarded for each section but the lay judge
to award marks under headings B,C and D.
6. Judges to keep scores on pro-forma provided for this purpose and competitors
will be allowed sight of these on request.
7. Maximum performance time to be
8-10 minutes for close up competition,
4-6 minutes for card competition,
4-8 minutes for mental effect competition
In event of an over-run, the competitor will have 5 points deducted from his/her score for each excess minute
or part thereof. Once the time reaches 13 minutes for close-up competition, 9 minutes for the card competition,
and 11 minutes for the mental effect competition, the competitor will be disqualified.
8. For the purposes of competitions
"Close-up Magic" is defined as "any magic that can be performed close up to the audience.
"Card competition" Effects involving playing cards.
"Mental effect competition" magic using the mind (props can be used)
